Yesterday was the kick off day of The American Heart Association Go Red Day to bring awareness of woman and heart disease!
Here are a few facts about Heart Disease and African American Woman.
- Cardiovascular diseases kill nearly 50,000 African-American woman annually.
- Of African-American woman ages 29 and older, 49 percent have heart disease.
- Only 1 in 5 African-American woman believes she is personally at risk.
- Only 52 percent of African-American woman are aware of the signs and symptoms of a heart attack.
- Only 36 percent of African-American women know that heart disease is their greatest health risk.
